Web Hosting Talk launches the Web Hosting Wiki

Posted on: Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

July 24th, 2007 — Chicago, IL – At HostingCon 2007 today, Web Hosting Talk (www.webhostingtalk.com), the largest online community serving the hosted services industry, announced the launch of the Web Hosting Wiki, a new section on Web Hosting Talk (www.webhostingtalk.com/wiki/). The Web Hosting Wiki leverages the strength of Web Hosting Talk – the size and expertise of its community – with a vision of creating the largest, most comprehensive guide to the technologies and the companies behind the hosted services industry.

The hosted services industry is highly technical and rapidly evolving. The Web Hosting Wiki on Web Hosting Talk (WHTwiki) addresses the need for a resource to help educate consumers and businesses as they research and select hosted services. The WHTwiki is not only a technology guide. It also serves to document the background of the service providers and the history of the industry. “No one is better positioned to deliver the definitive web hosting wiki than Web Hosting Talk”, said Troy Augustine, CEO of iNET Interactive and publisher of Web Hosting Talk.

WHTwiki articles are licensed under the Creative Commons License (www.creativecommons.com). The license allows WHTwiki content to be reused by the community that collaborated to create it.

The WHTwiki is the next phase of the rollout of the iNET 2.0 platform. The iNET 2.0 platform is the underlying technology platform used across iNET’s network of community-driven sites. “This platform embraces outstanding open-source technologies like MediaWiki and WordPress, integrated with best-of-breed solutions like vBulletin for message board forum management,” said Chris Ainsworth, iNET Interactive’s Director of Product Management. This modular platform delivers the latest in social networking functionality tailored to meet the needs of professional and enthusiast-focused communities.
