Leading Industry Thought Leaders to Provide Hosted and Cloud Service Providers Inspiring and Practical Insights to Create Strategic Vision

HostingCon, the premier trade show and conference for the hosted services industry, is excited to announce for its 2011 event its three keynote presentations designed to provide attendees with strategic vision for future growth opportunities.

Scheduled during each of the three days of the event – August 8-10, 2011 in San Diego, California – the three keynote sessions will feature presentations by Simon Wardley, a key researcher in CSC’s Leading Edge Forum, Antonio Piraino, VP and research director at hosting and cloud focused research group Tier1, and Birger Steen, president and CEO at hosting software developer Parallels.

While individually unique, all three sessions will focus on inspiring hosted services professionals with cutting-edge thinking about the role of hosted and cloud services in business today, and empowering them with actionable insight and data on market trends that will impact their businesses in the coming 18 to 24 months.

In the HostingCon opening keynote, titled “Situation Normal, Everything Must Change,” which will conclude the event’s Monday program at 4:00 p.m., Wardley, a renowned thinker and presenter on the subject of cloud computing and the role of outsourced services in business, will use cloud computing as an example as he discusses how evolving technology creates management challenges in modern organizations.

In Tuesday’s morning Keynote, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Piraino will ask attendees “Are You Ready for Hosting 3.0?” the upcoming age of web-based services characterized in part by a broader adoption of those services among smaller businesses. Backed by the substantial research data and resources of Tier1 Research, Piraino will help attendees understand where the opportunities lie in the cloud market today, and how that market will change in the next two to three years.

And on Wednesday morning, at 10:00 a.m., Steen will present “The Road Ahead: More Customers, More Services, More Opportunity – and More Competition,” drawing on Parallels role as a supplier to thousands of hosting providers – and research conducted among those hosting partners – to deliver practical tactics hosting providers can use to draw more revenue from existing customers, and to capitalize on low-hanging fruit in the small business market.

Along with an overall program designed to empower hosted services providers with the insight and tools to accelerate their businesses in the coming year, HostingCon 2011’s lineup of keynote presentations will leave attendees equipped with the practical, actionable insight they need to improve their businesses, and the motivation to begin implementing immediately.

The web hosting and hosted services industry continues to grow at a rapid rate. According to Tier1 Research (“T1R”), the leading analyst firm covering the Internet Infrastructure and web hosting markets, estimates that 2011 Internet Infrastructure revenue will reach $43.38 billion, which represents 18.3% growth over the 2010 total of $36.67 billion and expects the market for Internet Infrastructure to continue to grow at 18% annually through 2012.” This fast growth is driven in part through technology advancement from cloud computing, Software as a Service, Smart phones, and streaming video.

Further, The 451 Group, parent company of Tier 1 Research, expects a continuation of strong M&A activity in the hosting and managed services industries in 2011 at a microeconomic level driven by consolidation and rollup to achieve scale, amass customer bases and add complementary infrastructure and service lines in order to create and expand new service offerings.”

The strong industry growth is creating more and more opportunities for web hosts to compete and thrive in a changing marketplace. It also opens new doors with Independent software vendors (ISVs) and SaaS providers to uncover new business models within the hosting industry. ISVs and SaaS providers are looking for guidance from hosting companies; while hosting providers are positioned to provide assistance for network architecture, network and application layer security, monitoring and metering, billing and much more.

In addition, more than 70 experts from companies including Microsoft, Soft Layer, DELL, Symantec, Hostway, Rackspace, Verisign, OnApp, and many more will present across a wide range of topics including emerging trends for hosted services, security, new product technologies, marketing and business development. An exhibit floor with more than 150 service providers to the hosting industry will be in attendance for networking and partnering opportunities.
