On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck the small Caribbean country of Haiti. The aftermath of the catastrophic quake left more than 230,000 people dead, 300,000 people injured and 1,000,000 people homeless. There is a continuing shortage of essential supplies and support personnel to assist the people of Haiti through this crisis. Supplies, workers and money are needed to regain stability.

iNET Interactive, through its Web Hosting Talk and HostingCon brands, supports Hosting For Haiti, which has partnered with the American Red Cross to mobilize relief workers, send relief supplies and provide financial resources for recovery.

The goal of HostingForHaiti is to unite the web hosting industry to provide financial assistance to Haiti. Although it is normally highly competitive, the hosting industry can generate more awareness and support for Haiti as a group than any single person or company. As a major influence in the web hosting industry, iNET Interactive is proud to support the relief efforts in Haiti through the HostingForHaiti organization and the American Red Cross.

Those who are interested in donating can visit the HostingForHaiti website or the American Red Cross. One hundred percent of every donation made will go to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.

Following in the footsteps of her soon-to-graduate cohort, Alicia Howrey, a junior Quantitative Economics major at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, has joined the iNET team as an intern. Alicia will be working with the Corporate Development department. In particular, she will be conducting market research and providing general support with iNET’s HostingCon and Search Marketing Standard properties.

“We are excited to have Alicia join the iNET team. She comes highly recommended and will be an asset to our Corporate Development efforts. The internship will provide Alicia with the opportunity to gain real world experience that complements what she is learning in the classroom,” commented Mark Sancrant, Director of Corporate Development. “Miami University has a tradition of developing talented students and we are pleased to have another outstanding student join our team this year.”

Over the past five years, iNET has hired a number of interns to assist on special projects. The students interviewed are from among local colleges and universities including Miami University, Wright State, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati. iNET Interactive is fortunate to have access to world-class universities and colleges that produce outstanding young talent in the Cincinnati and Dayton area. The interns gain valuable business experience while iNET gains creative thinking and a hard work ethic for tackling important projects and research initiatives.

Welcome Alicia to the iNET team!

HostingCon is celebrating its sixth anniversary in Austin, Texas from July 19 – 21 at the Austin Convention Center. The annual event is the premier conference and trade show for the web hosting and hosted services industry. Over 1,500 industry professionals from over 30 countries attend the event to network with peers and learn about the latest industry trends.

The educational program at HostingCon is comprised of multiple tracks spanning a range of insightful topics from marketing and sales to technology, operations, business development and data centers.

What workforce skills are required to succeed in the 21st century? iNET Interactive had the opportunity to send Kevin Gold, Director of Internet Marketing, to Wyoming high school in Cincinnati to serve on a volunteer panel with two Proctor and Gamble (P&G) employees and a Xavier University administrator for a teacher in-service day. The objective for the panel developed by Aaron Marshall, Wyoming High School principal and Michael Overbey, Wyoming High School assistant principal, was to help teachers gain insights to the workforce skills needed to be successful in the 21st century workplace.

The panel was tasked with sharing their individual experiences and ideas on what 21st century skills are and why students should be developing these skills in today’s classrooms. The panel and teacher discussion provided insight into the challenges and, more significantly, the opportunities schools and workplaces have in grooming a 21st century workforce.

As a one of the best high schools in the United States according to U.S. News and World Report, Wyoming High School and its administrators and teachers deserve credit for their forward-thinking on this important subject. Thanks to Aaron, Mike and the Wyoming high school teachers for giving iNET the opportunity to participate. It was a great experience!

We have always known that iNET Interactive is a great place to work. A big thank-you to the Dayton Business Journal and Quantum Market Research for the external validation!

Overclockers and OCForums to Reunite to Form Internet’s Most Prominent Performance Computing Community

West Chester, OH – September 11, 2009 — iNET Interactive, a social media company serving Internet professionals and technology enthusiasts, announced today its acquisition of Overclockers (www.Overclockers.com), a blog serving the performance computing market. Once a part of iNET’s online community OCForums (www.OCForums.com), the Overclockers acquisition reunites the two properties to better serve the community at OCForums and the overall performance computing market.

Over the coming months, OCForums will merge with Overclockers, operating under the Overclockers brand name. Joe Citarella, the former owner of Overclockers, will continue to serve as the editor of the Overclockers blog.

On a combined basis, the sites attract more than 550,000 monthly unique visitors. Once integration is complete, iNET believes that Overclockers represents one of the largest and most prominent communities focused on performance computing. “Reuniting Overclockers and OCForums is a tremendous opportunity for iNET and a decision strongly supported by the leaders of both sites,” stated Kevin Gold, Director of Marketing who oversees community development at iNET Interactive. “Combining the strengths of each site will create an even greater benefit to the members and to the multitude of guests who visit the sites daily.”

Computer hardware manufacturers interested in having their products reviewed by the Overclockers community can contact Joe Citarella, editor of the Overclockers blog, by visiting www.overclockers.com and completing the Contact Us form. Manufacturers and retailers interested in reaching the more than half a million performance computing enthusiasts can contact iNET Interactive Sales to learn more about the available options.
