iNET Interactive held its sixth annual Community Leadership Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, this past weekend. The conference was started in 2007 as a show of appreciation for iNET’s hard-working and volunteer community leaders and as a continual opportunity to share and learn new ways to grow community. The Leadership Conference is equal parts: entertainment, education, and relationship-building.
The educational part of the conference follows an un-conference approach. Similar to a n online community, a topic thread is created and all participants share their insights, experience and opinions. This open dialogue between community leaders and iNET staff is rich with innovative ideas, shared learnings and knowledge exchanges that support the health and satisfaction of all community members. iNET also shares its vision, product road map, and other metrics with the community leaders.
The all-expenses-paid, two-day event gives the community leaders a chance to meet and mingle face-to-face with each other (five of iNET’s online communities were able to participate this year) as well as with iNET’s business and technology staff. The 2012 conference pulled in community leaders from all over including New York, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah as well as from Australia.
This year’s entertainment included a Cincinnati Red’s baseball game in the Great American Ballpark. A private suite along side the third base foul line was a perfect setting to network, build relationships and continue to explore new opportunities. Great food & drink, great conversation and plenty of laughter rounded out the weekend. The important work for iNET though doesn’t end with the conference’s close. Afterward, the team gets to work on planning and implementing the tremendous ideas and opportunities shared by the community leaders. Ongoing communications and idea exchange also continues via iNET’s community portal, “ClubMod,” where community leaders help further shape ideas and exchange knowledge and experiences.
The 2012 Community Leadership Conference was a great success! Thanks to all community leaders who were able to attend this year and we look forward to seeing you as well as new emerging leaders in 2013!
